The British summer can be unpredictable and we’ve all been caught out by a sudden change in the weather while relaxing in the garden. If you’re more of an outside than inside type person you’ll want to be able to enjoy your garden all year round. That’s where an awning can come in handy but not all awnings are created equal.
Garden awnings are one of the most versatile additions to your home and one of the easiest to install. They’re perfect for a casual, comfortable outdoor patio area giving you good protection in all weathers.
Awnings aren’t just for summer
Unlike ordinary awnings, some of Eden’s have been specially designed to protect you from more than just the sun. They can withstand a sudden downpour or strong gusts of wind so you don’t need to take them down or retreat inside if the weather gets blustery. Our Cadiz model is even designed to withstand up to a force 6 wind (approximately 30 mph).
This is done by using a strong rope tensioning system and fabric retention technology that prevents wind distortion across the awning to keep it stable and safe. Some models incorporate a telescopic post which adjusts the awning pitch to allow rainwater to quickly drain away no matter how hard the downpour.
It’s also possible to have wind and rain sensors fitted to Eden’s sun protection awnings which detect bad weather and retract your awning even when you’re not there. If you want an even more all-year round experience adding halogen heating to your awning will keep you snug.
Are awnings worth it?
Awnings are durable, simple to use and outstandingly convenient in their operation. With hand-held remote controls they are easily operated to suit the weather and extend your house out into the garden without the need of any kind of planning permission. The flexibility of awnings means you can add multiple units together to cover larger areas or have partial shade and sun.
Some models have energy efficient and dimmable LED lighting which can be used even when the awning is retracted. This makes it perfect for those warm summer evenings. For even more protection from the sun you can add a front mounted valance which is the perfect solution for when the sun is lying low in the evening, and also offers extra privacy while still letting light and air through.
What type of awning is best?
Garden awnings come in a variety of styles, colours and shapes, but all of them will bring usability and style to your outdoor space.
Eden’s range represents the very latest in design and innovative technology together with a professional installation second to none.
